82 interstate question

First, thanks to those that have answered my questions as I changed the timing belt and rebuilt the front calipers on my GL1100. My question is regarding the calipers. Is there anything that can be done to prevent the need to rebuild them again, especially as the bike sits over the winter? I don't know how long the bike sat before I bought it, but was amazed at the junk / gunk on the pistons. I've never had that problem on any other bike.
Regarding the bike itself, I really wasn't sure if I would like it, but I absolutely love this bike. Very smooth and comfortable, and for being 31 years old I find it to still be very capable and would not hesitate to take it on a trip. It's a nice alternative to my two Guzzis.

The easiest thing is to change the fluid at least one each year. You shouldn't have any problems for a few years, but it is better to stay ahead of the problems.

Get ur self a MiteVac. Bleeding/replacing your brake fluid will become a 10-minute job, so replacing the fluids annually will be no big deal. The MiteVac will also make changing your fork oil a trivial matter too.

No, I don't have a financial interest in MiteVac. I'm just lazy and this tool lets me stay that way!

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lots of things. You've been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. Its having the right attitudes that's hard.

I used a Mighty Vac for the first time on the Wing, I no longer dread changing brake fluid
