I have a 1985 ltd, has a poorboy with a 2 and a half inch crank pulley, charges 11.7 volts at idle, I have heard of people using a 5" pulley would that over rev the alternator? I have a denso alternator

What voltage do you have at higher RPMs? Is it sufficient?

Poor Boy voltage output

Are you relying on the factory volt meter? These meters are known for their inaccuracy.
I too have an 85 LTD with the PB conversion. Mine show almost exactly a 1volt difference between the factory gauge and my digital meter attached directly to the battery.
Check your voltage at the battery for a true reading. Good Luck!
