CB issues GL1500

Before anyone suggests checking the fuse in the relay box, I have already replaced that.

I should note that this is only an occasional problem, but sometimes when I start my GL1500 (1990 SE) the CB will have reset to Channel 1. But sometimes it doesn't. It's only the CB that doesn't remember where it was. The radio remembers.

Also, if it might be related, I just returned from a 1700 mile ride with a friend a week ago and sometimes he couldn't hear me speak on the CB. He would get the Rx to show on his CB, but he would just get a click. Turning off my CB and back on did nothing. Same with the radio. The only thing that would fix it is to physically turn the key off on my bike and then turn it back on. Then he could start hearing me again.

If they aren't related, any idea on my second issue too?

Thanks.

Turning off my CB and back on did nothing. Same with the radio.

On the CB, the keep alive voltage may not be the correct level (bad contact, bad ground). I don't have diagrams for the 1500 but I'm sure someone will come along that does. What is wrong with the radio? Good luck.

I just meant turning off the radio and back on had no affect on the CB's transmitting issues.

The 1500's battery is historically weak.... unless you replace it with an AGM.

when they start getting towards end of life, the battery voltage can drop low enough to cause that problem.... this is very noticeable if the bike gets to where it won't start until AFTER you release the start button.

That is the 1st thing that comes to mind for me. During starting, the voltage dropped enough that the CB lost its' channel selection memory.
