You're more than likely better off with the Rick's stator

1984 Aspencade Premium Beige Metalic..... Right Wing
1985 LTD Sunflash Gold 85,530 Grace Brown...... Left Wing
A Bird can\'t fly on one wing
That\'s why I have three wings

Not all I hear about Rick's has been positive. Randakk has a pretty good rep, and his part looks to be high quality. Especially the machined plug, rather than the cork plug on Rick's stator. Proof is in the puddin' I suppose.

You're probably right . That's why I'd stick to my orginal statement about Custom Rewind . It take all doubt out of the equasion of the way to go. If you read on Randaks site he won't take no returns under no conditions so if you happened to get a bad one shame on you . You put it in wrong like I was told when I had one that lasted 15 minuntes.

No returns, exchanges or refunds allowed on this product ...no exceptions.

Be sure you are qualified to undertake stator replacement before you order.

Not an unusual provision for electrical components from any vendor in my experience.

Yeah I guess you're right . Why worry about making a quality part when you don't have to stand behind it . Not meaning you of course but to all the other venders selling Chinese junk . How do they sleep at night

I used Rick's when mine went bad in 2008. It was putting out 15.2 volts when new, now doing 15.1 after 7 years, and 60,000 miles. I'd do Ricks again. But mine also had the blue wiring coating, so it might have been done by Custom Rewind.

Haven't been able, until now, to get back to it, due to work. But....I've now got most of the necessary things stripped off the bike. Will probably start gathering / ordering parts this weekend. Think I'll drain / refill the rear end while I'm at this project. Should I consider cleaning / re-greasing the drive shaft ? The bike has about 56k miles on it, and I don't -think- it's been done before.

No, keep it simple for now. When you have the job at hand finished, and all those parts back where they belong, then absolutely, perform the rear wheel, axle, final drive and drive shaft service.
Two "big" tasks, when done at the same time, may equal one overwhelming job.

I have to disagree with Dennis, time permitting do any/all maintenance you can while waiting for parts.

Advise given here is free and comes with no warranty "Caveat emptor"
