With my 1500, I always put it in reverse to control the speed of descent when backing out of my trailer with a tilt-down door/ramp. (It was too easy to lock the front wheel using the brakes and skid down the ramp.) Never had a problem, but the first time I tried the same thing with my 1800 it seemed to get "locked" into reverse and I had a hard time getting it back out - had to fiddle with the button and rock the bike back-and-forth to get it to release. I don't think I hurt anything, but it just didn't feel right. Instead, I now put it in first gear and feather the clutch to slow things down.
