I pulled plugs, rolled it over, restarted and finished the summer, but it seemed to have a little vibration at idle, and I blew a headgasket which was between the 1-3 cylinders. Pulling the heads I happened to notice #1 piston does not come out proud of the block. It stays in about 0.040" while the others are about 0.040" proud of the block deck. I have an 87 to replace it with, but it's deck is off a bit. I think I have to get it shaved or I'll just crack the heads by the oil galley return.

So check those float valves and turn the petcock off.
That is why I have a N/C fuel solenoid that opens with the key on.

Drained the oil and put new filter in and fresh oil, got the engine cranking over to check compression, I know that should be done when warm but just checking it anyhow, 1 cyl at 105 and other 3 at 120.
Seems like decent pressure for something that has been sitting for a couple months.
Put plugs into the wires and watched them while cranking engine, spark looked a lil weak but it was there, now I need to get gas and it should fire up

Hope you have the battery on a tender/charger after all that cranking.

So you have the 1100 carbs on the 1200 engine in a 1100 frame.

A short video of the first start up would be great.............................

Do you have coolant in yet?

Don't want to blow the head gaskets.

Haven't gotten a fuel pump yet, battery has been dead for 2 years, filled with water cause it was dry, added a car battery with cables cause charger did nothing, put car battery on charger and cables to bike battery and bike finally taking a charge haven't added radiator back to bike yet, won't run bike but a min or so without it.
Still working up to getting it started

Brought home 2 gallons of gas, put in bike and just my luck, barely even with petcock so no gravity feed, really wish I had a fuel pump right now

If you got the coolant system buttoned up you could warm the bike up once it starts.

Just saying....................

He just wants to make sure it runs before buttoning up everything, don't blame him. Won't hurt it to run a couple minutes with no cooling system.
Ken Bergen and MysticFour like this.

With no God over the state, the state then becomes not the defender of liberty but the definer of liberty.

I understand that.......

If he really just wanted to start the bike why not hang a small bottle on the handle bars so he could gravity feed the fuel.

I would have done that had I realized 2 gallons was not going to be enough in tank, plus I don't think I have a bottle to do it with

I've yet to have a problem of any kind from this electric pump.
And you probably won't unless the bike gets tipped over with the switch on or has a leaky needle valve and the key gets left on.
It hydro-locked once. No fault of the electric pump.
I suppose a tilt switch w/relay would work should it ever fall over while idling.
I just don't see the need for it ...for me.
