83 Engine Wires

I am replacing an 83 engine.
The old engine has 3 different sets of wire coming out of it.
1 set) Green with brown wire & Blue with brown wire. {comes out of the front of the engine above the oil filter} Honda plug on it.
2 set) 3 yellow wires. Honda plug to stator.
3 set) Blue wire, 2 white wires, and a yellow wire with a Honda plug.

The new 83 engine has:

1set ) Red, White, Black, Blue, Green, and Yellow wire with a Honda plug.
{comes out of the front of the engine above the oil filter}
2set) 3 yellow wires with Honda plug. Stator

3 set) Blue wire, 2 white wires, and a yellow wire with a Honda plug.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I do not know how to connect set 1 wire.
I have not found the bike plug for set 3.-- I know it is there as I unplugged the wires from the old engine.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would think that the first engine is an Interstate so the front plug only had neutral and over drive indicators.
The second engine is likely an Aspencade with indicators for all five gears plus neutral.

Advise given here is free and comes with no warranty "Caveat emptor"

Ken.

Old engine was an Interstate. Not sure of the new engine. You are probably correct.
Any suggestions how I might connect the 1st set of wires. Which wires will I not need?

Any idea of where the set 3 wires might be on the bike?

Use the blue and the green from the shift switch, match to the blue/brown & green/brown.
The other connector should be next to the stator connector, to the left of the battery.

Thank You.

I will cut the plug from the old engine and solder it to the Green and Blue wires in the morn.
The other 4 wires I will tape, and forget them.
