Has anyone had luck cleaning the lil hazard button for the 4 way flashers? 91 1500 SE. I hit the button & now it will not go off. Sprayed a lil shot of wd 40 around the button but its most likely not getting through the weather seal. Do I replace it or can I clean it?
Usually not a problem, , unscrew the two JIS screws underneath, it'll come apart like a "clam-shell". Just be gentle with it. The Hazard button is on the top half and you should use a good contact cleaner to get the gunk out. Work the button a bunch of times after clean and make sure it functions easily.
WD 40 is not a lubricant it is it stands for Water Displacement I use Fluid Film for anything that needs a light lubricant and I use it to polish the plastic on the bike, and as a rust preventative, I have used on several things, to many to mention, like the cooling fan on my computer ect.
Honda used dielectric grease. I suspect they had a reason.
