Wheel dampers

I am installing new wheel dampers on the rear wheel, the question is how to I compress them enough to get the retaining ring started? 93 GL1500

I got it, I ground ramps on the edge of the starting tabs, it didn't want to go but finally gave up and went in. I used a brass punch to turn it.

1 The dampers are in and now I don't have to worry about down shifting, everything is nice and tight.

2 I made a shifter brace and wow what a difference in shifting and no more hunting for neutral

3 And made the adjustment to the cruise control and no more lag
