I get to Salt Lake International Airport at 0500, flying TDY to Baton Rouge LA for work. Get right on the plane, first leg is a little over three hours to Houston. Walk straight to gate and they start loading. Storm hits just after they load all of us victims. No outbound flights (temporarily) and then the back-ups begin. Two and a half hours later, we take off for Baton Rouge. 35 minute flight. Counting my march through security, I was at airports or flying for 7 hours only to find out the shuttle bus was delayed due to a car fire on the freeway.

Best part of the day was the pecan pie for dessert...

Hey, I love pecan pie. Don't know that I would travel for 7 hours for a piece though...

Well, it WAS bourbon-pecan pie...

I did well with the catfish, shrimp, dirty rice and gumbo too. Oh, and hush-puppies.

Going to New Orleans next weekend for 4 days. Just the wife and I staying in the French Quarter. Looking forward to Cajun food, Po'boys, and partying. First time going there. No riding this vacation!

Cornmeal dough mixed with corn, or peppers or chilies, deep fried and named such as they were used to shut the dogs up while you were eating. Works for people too.

Dirty rice is good as long as it's not too firey. Gumbo sticks to your ribs, but then mosanything with okra in it does. Hush puppies are delicious too but catfish?
