WOW its so much different then the 1100 I have ridden for 4 yrs . ITs so smooth , so quiet, so comfortable , so many toys , and so dang hot . The 1100 had a Vetter fairing and screen with no lowers . It would be warm but there was some airflow to me . The 1500 just seems to block all the air . I have the toe warmers closed and the heat vents closed . The windshield vent open and the dash/ knee vents open . How do ya'll stay comfortably cool ? I looked online at a set of wings but the one I saw seems to be to exit the radiator heat away from my legs . Is there a set that actually turns some air in towards me ?

I will admit its been hotter than he!! the last two weeks here in Fl . But boy oh boy that 1500 is Hot but I cant seem to stay off it . I sure hope the heat wave passes soon.

Momma sure likes the rear seat better than the 1100 . She always wanted some tunes and that works good . We still need helmet sets yet . So far the MPG is 40-42 on the 3 tanks run thru it . This bike is just about to tick over 170000 miles and seems ready for many more .

Sounds like you are in a new world. That is great to hear. I sure know what you are talking about, been there. Show us a picture when you can get off it long enough

Mike, edit: Earl's in Florida too....

I know the feeling of transitioning from a 1200 to the 1500. I could not believe the silky smoothness at first either.

The heat problem? Well, for me, it is cooler than a 1200 in 100+ heat. Not air conditioned by any means, but cooler. My 1500 had two sets of side wings on it. Above the handlebars and another set down about 1/2 way between foot and knee height.

If even that was not enough, I just put my feet up on the highway pegs which were mounted on the top of the engine guards. the breeze then blows up your pants legs.

worked for me.

Welcome to 1500 addiction! I know how ya feel.I was blown away by the increase in power from my 80 1100 to the 1500. I couldn't imagine an 1800!!! You aint' seen nothin as far as heat!LOL Just ask ole' AZ1500 about summer heat on a wing! I rode in Phx. every day for 17 years. Enjoy the new ride, and for gods sake don't overdo the heat while you are so into riding right now! Enjoy that thing for another 100,000 miles!! jimsjinx

OnaWingandaPrayer as AZgl 1500 said , get some of those AIR wings, i got my Baker airwings from Cyclemax and that was one of the best things i did for myself. In the summer you divert the wind to you and in winter you divert it away from you. You will not regret.

All of the wind wings I've seen, no matter what brand, are adjusable. In their "closed" position, they are directing air away from you, but if you turn them open, you can direct a lot of air on you. I have the Baker built lowers with uppers, and the hand wings. When it's hot I can direct a lot of air on me. when it's cold, I can direct most of the air off of me. I'll snap some pictures of them in a little while.

John

Edit - OK, here's a couple of pictures, one with them closed and one with them open. They are just friction tightened, so you can adjust them to almost any position you want. At freeway speeds in high winds, they don't hold in an open position real well, unless they are adjusted very tight.

My 1500 already had the lower wings when I bought the bike. I installed the hand wings on the mirrors and boy do they make a big differance in either cutting the air off you or directing the air on you.

I am VERY glad I made the purchase and I'm sure you would not regret it either.

Enjoy that baby.

The things I liked,,,,I\'ve tried em twice!
