OK, is it a GoldWing, or is it a Gold Wing?

If you listen to the users on this site, or the posts on the rest of the Internet.... the answer is Goldwing. On this site, we're twenty times more likely to call it a Goldwing.

Strange then, to look on Honda's website, and find ZERO references to a "Goldwing".....

It's a GOLD {space} WING!

Those google results are also capturing all of the dumb hits like "gold wing" on rear deck of my car. "gold wing" jewelery.

Don't put too much faith in just using google's hits.

No debating the accuracy of the name, just the hits you get each way.

Usually I just refer to my Gold Wing as many things, when every thing is going well its my Gold Wing, if I'm talking on this forum its just my Wing, but if every time I touch it everything goes wrong...it's then just "the Old Money Pit.....So that proper name depends on what is going on at that moment....Finally When I do get to ride it ....It's called "My baby" ....

That's a cool computer you've got. I don't hear anything over mine, of course I have the sound turned down. All I see is text on my screen. Even so, in the 3-D world it sounds the same, when spoken, no matter how it is spelled on the internet.

Still, to be fair, I looked at my GW. There, on the side, the emblem is spelled GOLDWING. Then I looked at the owners manual. There, on the front cover, it is spelled GOLDWING. I open the manual, on the first page, there it is again - GOLDWING. Still on my quest, I looked at the service manual. There too, it is spelled GOLDWING.

Obviously the writers are unaware of the all caps thing. But there you have it. Life on the internet and life in the real world.

I call it . . . . . . . "My Bike".

6'-2", 210, old Geezer Glide and a big dumb grin.

Goldwings. . . if you're gonna have something between your legs, it might as well be enormous and smooth.

Why go to the trouble of researching it on the 'net?

The bike itself resolves all questions by spelling it GoldWing.

Since I no longer have a Goldwing, I haven't thought much about it......

I do have an ST1300 -- the PanEuropean over there -- but since I put it to the same use as I once put my 1100 Goldwing and my 1500 Goldwing, and out of deference to this forum, and since ST1300 sounds rather clinical, like a flu virus variant -- I have rechristened my ST1300 PanEuropean to..........

The WongWing!

one word, please...........

No, the bike doesn't. The emblem stylists are given leeway, both for looks, and the ability to keep the logo on a single piece of plastic:

Honda's website, however, clearly shows the name with a space in it (every time), and makes no reference to GoldWing.

ScooterTramp makes a good point about the documentation, though. I found this in one of the official Honda manuals:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sooooo.... we don't even have an "official" answer from Honda.

That's actually what spurred my initial question.

When seaching on the web, I have to search both ways due to the lack of consistent naming.

I don't run into the same problem when seaching for "Monte Carlo", even though their emblems often leave off the space, and capitalize the second word (just like GoldWing!).
