I just got back from a ride up the road to see what was up with 2 ambulances running with lights and sirens.

Just up the road about 2 miles at the Union county line was1 big mess of HP, local police, and ambulances. I was able to do a slow drive by and there was a cruiser style bike down in the road and another on it's side stand. Medics were working on at least one person in the median. Air flight on the way.

I couldn't find out who it was in case it was someone I know. Looks like a possible deer strike. I'll know more maybe when the 11 pm news comes on.

Google news search did not find anything yet. Searched for South Carolina only.

No, nothing yet as we're 2 hrs ahead of you. It's just 9:42 here and the closest news will be on at 10 on one of the VHF channels. The big ones do theirs at 11.

Guess it's about time I buy a scanner.

Ok, still sketchy info but it was a female rider taken down by a 6-point buck. Condition unknown at this time. WSPA channel 7 had video but it's not on their site yet. I'll post it when they do.

One person was killed after a motorcycle accident in Union County Wednesday night.
The accident happened just before 8:30 p.m. on Highway 176 in Union County, just over the Spartanburg County line outside of Jonesville. The South Carolina Highway Patrol told News Channel 7 that two motorcycle riders were driving south on Highway 176 when one driver struck a deer. On Thursday morning troopers announced the woman had died and was not wearing a helmet. The Union County Coroner’s office has not released her name.

Whether she was or wasn't wearing a helmet, it still hurts to see someone die on a bike. Her husband or friend is going to have some bad nightmares i'm afraid. Tony

We have a name now and I didn't know her. I have a good idea where she was headed though, a biker friendly bar south of me in Union called Shady's. The bar tender is a member of ABATE.

A Pacolet woman died after the motorcycle she was riding struck a deer Wednesday night in Union County.
Deborah Waters, 45, of Pacolet died at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center from her injuries according to the Union County Coroner’s Office.
The S.C. Highway Patrol says Waters was riding a 2007 Honda on U.S. 176, about three miles north of Jonesville with a second person on another motorcycle, when her bike collided with a deer.
Troopers say Waters was not wearing a helmet when the accident happened around 8:20pm.
The Coroner’s Office has not determined the exact cause of death as of Thursday morning.
