God Mode for Windows 7 and Vista

Create a new folder. Now rename that folder to

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Every character must be there, do not leave out any characters.

If you did it right, the icon changes to the Control Panel.
Now you have access to every control feature in Windows in one place, not scattered around under the most arcane mess we have ever seen.

I am using Vista.

Yup! It works!

Not sure what to do with it, but it works!!

So this just makes the control panel easier to access?

That too Al, and the obvious of putting everything back into one place like the old control panel was all along.

Starting with Vista, Redmond decided to make it much harder to access the default features of the OS. Users are considered dangerous to mess with things like changing fonts or background colors or other deeper stuff.

Yeppers, can't have a common user mucking about with group policy editor, now can we?

I don't like the way they've tried to bury access to the real settings and documents folder when you want to clean the temp IE files and history file manually. They started this with Vista and I never took the time to figure a work a round for it.

BTY, MS just announced they're dropping all support for Vista this year.

Or any other place you want it. I put mine in C:\ root directory as my desktop is so cluttered, I would never find it there anyway.
