About 11 years ago I found myself raising a 2 year old and an 11 month old on my own, I was 41, overwhelmed and scared. My mother stopped off and left me a gift, is was a coffee cup with a quotation on it. I know, coffee cups with quotations are a dime a dozen.

I liked this one though and it became my favorite cup, I would start every morning looking at this cup. There were mornings I looked at it and wept for the fear of the day and the days ahead, especially knowing that there were those laughing that I couldn't do it. As time passed I became more relaxed and confident, and the days behind actually made look forward to the days ahead. The cup was soon placed in the cabinet where it would be safe and not seen as often. But from time to time it manages to sneak to the front of the cabinet, as if to remind me and challenge my perspective.

One hundred years from now
It will not matter what kind of car I drove,
What kind of house I lived in,
How much money I had in my bank account,
Nor what my clothes looked like.
But one hundred years from now
The world may be a little better
Because I was important
In the life of a child.
~Dr. Forest E. Witcraft

On the other side is this proverb;

[suP]Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, [/suP]
[suP]he will not depart from it.[/suP]
[suP][/suP]

I do agree

Those little things like that add more progressively positive meaning to outlooks than one can imaging. I found myself in a similar situation at 24 years old...

Just don't accidentally break the cup...
