My wife gets this text message on her cell from a bank about "our account" being "over drawn"...Funny thing is we don't have an account with this bank any more...We did have an account with that this bank took over....We had about $500.00 in our saving account there, but when they merged, and took "bail out" money we took out our money put it in our Credit union....Same with the bank that did have my 401K, its now in my credit union....I have called "that bank" and was told that they don't send Text messages....So here is someone trying to get my personal information....I also did some checking and if my wife had of called the phone number it was one of those phone numbers that you get charged out the wazoo for, to the tune of hundreds of dollars?????....We filled a complaint with the authorities, but so far that hasn't stopped those "text messages" .......I may not be the sharpest pencil in the box, but I can smell a scam a mile away....

We have AT&T for everything...They are in cahoots with Yahoo for their email service, at least around here. We haven't gotten any messages like that...yet.

I agree that it smells like a scam...

(Just a note for any that aren't aware...I've learned that by right-clicking the email header in the "in-box", and clicking on "properties", then "details", one can sometimes see much about the stuff behind the email...most of it being total "Greek" to the non-nerd like me...but it might help one to determine whether to be suspicious or not...)

I do all my own stunts...

Got an e-mail this morning from a bank saying our online services were going to be suspended if I didn't send my information etc.......

We don't have an account with this bank, never had an account with this bank and probably never will have an account with this bank......

It just got deleted.......

AT&T even sent out a security warning about that email. I thought it was funny as heck. I get the bank closing warnings all the time from banks I've never dealt with.

Oh, Fenderhead, I've already let AT&T know how much I hate them farming out my email to Yahoo.

Sadly, folks fall for this stuff, or they would not continue to send them out en-mass. There are always a couple of keys to a scam that i find:

1. Your name is never used in the email.
2. They ask for information like passwords which a valid corporation would not do via email.
3. Check the headers as mentioned; valid corporations using yahoo or gmail?

I never respond to these nor click on a link in any of those emails. It's fun to dissect the scams though.

It doesn\'t matter what you ride, just so you ride.
