Just for a hoot a while back I Googled the serial number 63-8182, not really expecting anything in return. It was the serial number of an old Air Force Jet. I had spent four years keeping it flying thirty odd years ago. Fixing it when it broke, changing tires and engines when they needed it.
Commissioned in 1963, I was only one of the many twenty-something year olds who bled and sweated to keep the thing flying over the many years of it's service. I "owned" it for four of those years. Safety wire and JP-4. Blood and knuckles in a labor of love.
I'll be double-dipped! Google returned a picture of an old friend relegated to an air museum somewhere out west. Yep! that's the one! I still have scars I got keeping that thing flying. Nice to know she still lives if only as a display. I'm here to say in the hands of the right person she could make you puke and pass out and make a lasting impression in her day.
