Smart phone browser and apps ???

I finally got my first smart phone. Samsung Galaxy. I would like to know which browser you use and why. This phone came with Chrome. Also what are some "must have can't do without" apps?

My first smart phone was a Samsung Galaxy...HATED it the whole time I had it. In fairness though, it was an early one and they REALLY weren't ready for prime time. Horrible little POS. I'm told they're very good now and on par with the iPhone, which I have now. I'm sure the Galaxy will do everything you need quite nicely.

Apps to have:

Weather forcast
Weather/radar "My Radar" is excellent
GPS mapping (so you can verbally tell it to take you to a location)
Flashlight app (surprisingly useful)
Hotel/motel finder (like Kayak, etc.)
Voice recorder
Netflix (if you're a subscriber)
Slacker (radio app, some folks like Pandora)

These are a few that I use frequently. I have others, such as Shazam, which is a novelty app that when you launch it and let it listen to anything on TV it'll tell you all about the movie or episode after a few seconds. Or, a song on the radio and it'll tell you about it. It's amazing and kinda fun.

You have struck a favorite subject of mine. You don't say which Galaxy model you have, mine is the Galaxy II Fascinate that I have been using since the day it came out and which is on Verizon.
It has it's draw backs, but once you figure out how to get around them, it is a great phone. I still cannot justify replacing it....... BUT that Samsung Note 3 sure is tempting me.....

My single most favorite app which I only recently came across is Battery Doctor. That app is the single most efficient app for Android phones I have come across. What it does is let you kill all of the background apps that are hogging your battery power.

My phone's battery life is typically about 5-8 hours depending on whether I am talking or not. Seriously, standby time w/o talking it is good for about 8 hours. With Battery Doctor it will now go 2 days and me still be able to make/take a few phone calls.

The secret to using it is to envoke the Task Killer button each time you are through with the phone and want to put it to sleep/standby.

Now, what other apps? I have a whole slew of good ones that I use all the time depends on what area you want to delve into.

Reverse Lookup is great if you want to know who just called and you missed them.

Evernote is tops on my list of useful intergrating apps. I keep my life stored in Evernote and it follows me around everywhere. Phone to desktop to laptop, no matter, enter info once and it syncs to the Evernote cloud.

WiFiScanner is good

Email apps for Yahoo and Gmail (comes with phone)

GPS, there are 11 apps on my phone, ask if you want to know which ones.

ICE - In Case of Emergency. This one is so the LEO or EMT can look at your phone and find out if you have medical needs and who to call and alert to your situation.

KBB - Kelly Blue Book

Bank Apps to my banks, very neat since they have added the Scan & Deposit check feature. Never used it yet, no one sends me checks anymore

AppBrain will sync your apps to the playstore

Photobucket - I like this one because when I take a picture, it is automatically uploaded to my Photobucket web account.

That is most of the great ones.

I have an S4, after a year of my older S2 I was using about 2% of the capabilities of it, after two months of the S4 I constantly turn it off because I just cannot figure how to use it other than email or as a simple phone. Its a nice phone no doubt but its just beyond my peasant abilities.

I think it tracks my movements and sends info back to the See eye aye.

Hey Silverado6x6 I will give you the trade in value that Walmart is offering to get your S4 .... providing it is on Verizon.

I used the Dolphin browser for a while. That one seemed to me to be a bit easier to use than the others. But honestly I quit using any browser except what ever is in the phone itself.

The only thing I use my phone for on the internet is to find things or places and then let the google map apps take me there.

I tried the Firefox browser a couple of years ago and I'm sure it should be better by now, but back then, it didn't work very well on my phone.

WebofCam

I've two Galaxy Legends and use the app above to pair the phones: 1 as a video camera and the other as a monitor.

We use them as a transportable nanny-cam.

Are any of the weather apps better than others? A couple of local emergency weather apps are not very good. Low resolution.
Edit: Oops! I see some have been suggested already. Thanks
