Do you own a car that will unlock the doors if your key FOB is in your pocket?

If you do, there is a risk that a hacker can walk up to your car and open the door. All he needs is a cheap transponder to increase the range the car can be away from your FOB.

If you live in a neighborhood with gadget prone thieves, then you might want to keep a coffee can handy to put your keys in.

This is my Silly Season...being a motorcycle locksmith means that now is the time that everyone who put their bikes away for the winter looks for and can't find their keys. That's bad for them, and good for me, but it means that usually when I take my bike out of the garage, the phone rings to go make keys for someone else. Can't say no. That's business....

You almost got there while I was still there.
We went down for Christmas week and left for home Saturday the 27th.
PJ was called back into work early, he was supposed to have the next week off also.

I bought a car with the proximity switching and I don't like it. Too many years trusting in keys.

It's a PITA.

A friend dropped his wife off and drove to Home Depot 10 miles away. The fob was in her purse so although he could shut the car off he couldn't get in or restart until she came (By taxi) to bring her fob.

On a trip to PA we would stop because Mrs. nobbie wanted to take a picture. If she left her purse (And therefore fob) in the car I couldn't lock it.

I rented a Chrysler 300 and a Jeep Cherokee about 2 years ago and both had that FOB setup.

I noted the same thing you did Nobbie, and I did not feel very secure that my stuff was "really locked up"
