It's possible that the desk is actually from 1948 and the pullout is for a typewriter not a computer keyboard.

I think the hinges are the key to locating the age of your first piece.. Those hinges and what they're made of will help get the date close...

Back to riding after a 30 yr lay off.. Started with a 86 Magna 750 on to a 02 Shadow 1100,99 Magna 750,91 ST1100, finaly a 93 Wing.. and now an 06 1800 Loven Life...

The workbench that I got appears to be about 1905-08. Sold for about $7, probably a buck more for the extra drawer... including shipping!!!!! ahahaha

Well bass not bronze should help date it and the type of wood screws well help also.. All those things evolved at different time periods..
Any old retired carpenter or cabinet maker would be able to date it for you by those 2 things.....
