Weather forecast

How can they be wrong every day? I have used weather underground for several years, they seem to be just as wrong as anybody so why not? Every day this week they have predicted the temperature to be "cooler than yesterday", every day it has been just as hot or hotter than the day before. It makes me wish I had been a weather man. What other job can you be wrong most of the time and still not get fired (except politicians)?

If I disagree with you it's simply because you're wrong.

I'm with you Dave. I also have used the Weather Underground for quite a while. Every day this week I left the bike home because there was to be rain. NO RAIN. Although today it did rain and I was glad I left the bike at home. But really, a job where you can screw up 50+% of the time and still be employed. I'd be gone from my job in about 2 days if that.

I usually compare WU to the National Weather Service. They always never agree and are always both wrong. I seem to remember long ago when each local weather channel did their own research with balloons and transponders and were more accurate than they are now.

They may not be good at predictions, but when a storm, tornado, extreme winds or any other weather anomaly hits it's non-stop reporting until it's gone. Then they talk about what happened for days. If a bad front is predicted and does happen they brag that only Weather News XX told you about this storm last week.

Yes, they can get it pretty close right when it's happening. One of those weather donkeys can do that.

But they are most likely right.

NOAA has been my go-to for years. None of them are perfect, but it has been consistently close.
Wish I could err so much and still get paid...

While weather forecasting is often wrong there are other professions that can fail at their jobs and still get paid, and some of them get paid a lot.

For example: When a Baseball player steps up to the plate his job is to get a hit, if he does that 30% of the time he will be payed millions of dollars a year.

Yes, 70% failure rate and a millionaire. That wouldn't work in our space program!
