precisely !!!

that is exactly why I have AUTO UPDATE turned OFF on my Android phone....
it works just fine the way it is, I have read of way too many forum posts where Android newbies just blithely update everything all at once..... and then the start screaming because "this damn thing is broken"

I believe that was an update not an upgrade.

So, you updated the OS on your PC's and I ride an updated model of Goldwing now instead of my older daily driver. Good for us. But you didn't know that. My current daily ride might have been the 1100. You assumed since the 1500 was newer, it was my current ride and an "upgrade." I know of some members here that have went from 1500s to 1200s because the 1200 fit them and their riding style better. Did they downgrade just because the bike was older?
Now, if you'd have went to an i7, that would have been an upgrade. Or even added more RAM. Another upgrade. Better graphics card. Yep, upgrade, too. All you did was update your OS.

My laptop came with Windows 8.1 and I've been using Windows for decades - from 3.1 through Vista, ME, XP, 7, and 8.1. It seems each new version took up more and more disk space, and RAM, and ran slower. Last year I decided to split the laptop disk in two - I keep 8.1 for some of my applications that need it, but for everyday use I boot up in Linux Mint. I used various versions of linux back when I was working so I'm somewhat familiar with it, but even if you've never used it you can get up to speed with it pretty quickly, and it's a much better OS - it's just too bad that a lot of Windows-based programs won't run on it...

So, is this instead of or in addition to your original post that says all this about XP

I guess there is no sense in attacking Windows XP.

So you're saying that Windows 1.0 would be safest version if you're going down the Microsoft path?

What I mean is why attack XP when you can go after 7 or newer since more people would be using those.
I wonder if it bothered any Apple Mac computers?
