After reading a long article about Fram filters several years ago that had pictures of different filters cut open and compared. I buy all Wix or Napa Gold since then.

I read some time back, that WIX makes Honda's oil filters. ( on the internet, so it must be true )

WIX is also the manufacturer of most of the other brands you see on the shelf.

Fram excluded.

Filtech makes the Honda car filters. Believe it or not Honda did have fram make some filters at one time, I'm sure to Honda's own specs. When our parts manager found that he wouldn't buy them, they were a different part # from the filtech. I seem to remember some with Wix name on them at one time. They were a Japanese brand way back when before Honda started manufacturing in the US.

looking up the wix 24940 at Walmart shows a cartridge filter? Isn't the GL1500 a spin on filter?

The GL1500 is a spin on and from the Wix site it is part number WL10000. http://www.wixfilters.com/Lookup/Par...x?Part=1870888

Have used frams for years(40) and never an engine issue. Put over 100k on my cars before selling and that is because they are over 10 years old when I do sell.
