My calculator won't calculate that high. 26000 x 5280 then 26000+2' x 5280.

It occurred to me after I went to bed last night that I was all wrong on this, not that it mattered any.

If I disagree with you it's simply because you're wrong.

The 26000 miles was the perimeter not the diameter.

(26000 * 5280) / PI gives the diameter (in feet)

The perimeter with the additional 1 foot above the surface is

(((26000*5280)/PI) + 2) * PI = 26000*5280 + 2 * PI

Subtract the original perimeter (26000 * 5280) to get the extra rope and it comes to 2 * PI feet (so just over 6 and a quarter feet)

Yep, its almost counter intuitive to understand that to raise a loop around a basketball or a huge planet by a foot you will need 6.28 ft of extra rope on both cases

All this while the woman with pie feet was trying to buy pizza like floppers

I make sense all the time. The problem is you only listen intermittently

Yeah, my mind says that's wrong...

...And if I had a basketball and 25,006.28 feet of rope, I'd prove it to you.

Why ain't we ridin'?

Yes, that is hard for me to get my head around but it's a fact. I found an online calculator that is better than my 40 year old casio.

An interesting question I had long time ago:

Im 20 ft from my wife who is blindfolded and tries to shoot me with the single bullet she has in the handgun.
There is a solid three near me and I hide behind it.
My wife discharges the weapon and hits the tree.
Did the tree save my life?

I make sense all the time. The problem is you only listen intermittently

No, she is going to rip off the blindfold and beat you to death with the empty gun.

The tree did not save my life. It was merely an insurance I wouldn't get hit.
Was I any other place my wife would still have hit the tree.....
then she would have chased me with an empty gun

Today I worked to fix screw ups done by the plumber's helper. A drain pipe has to have a minimum pitch of 1/4 inch per foot.. Within 6 feet o pipe he had barely 1/2 inch instead of minimum 1.5 inch.
When I showed him he started to butcher the holes in the studs to obtain the right pitch.
I fixed it nicely after I removed and replaced the studs.. I snapped an horizontal line level with the lowest point. Then at 4ft I marked an inch up and snapped another line from the original point to like 7 ft away making sure the line is one inch high at 4 ft.

While doing all this work I was contemplating what is an horizontal line.
The best answer I came up is A CIRCLE. Do you agree?
