Hey guys, I bought these caliper covers on e bay. the seller said they fit gl1100 or gl1200. the instructions say they are for a 83 1100. I cant seem to figure out how they go on or even if they actually fit the 1200. Has anyone seen these covers or possibly have a set? They are from drag specialties and I cant find any info on them. Thought I better ask before I go after the seller. Maybe some one could even tell me if they know if the 83 and 84 forks and trac system configuartion is different from one another. Thanks

These are what the covers are supposed to look like for the 1100 & 1200's made by Drag Specialties.

Your covers aren't the standard type, they're styled more likelater bikes. If you look at the picture of yours and the ones Mr. (ex)1200 posted you can see they have the same general shape and the brackets look similar once you allow for the different non-flat shape. Take a good look at a bike with the regular covers on the calipers and then orient yours the same way by the outside shape, ie. the perimeter shape. I think they'll mount okay. Someone here might be able to post a close up of a regular 1200 caliper cover.

I almost bought those - but found out through some research that neither of the sets pictured will fit an '83 Interstate - only the Aspencade. I recently bought a set of forks from an Aspencade for my Interstate (to replace bent tubes), but the lowers were just wrong enough that the calipers wouldn't fit. Since the caliper cover fits to the caliper mounts, well, it won't work.

I'm still looking though. I know that the older Markland painted covers will fit, but have only seen one pair and didn't win them.

Jack, I bought some caliper covers off ebay that look identical to the ones in the first post. And the instruction say specifically they fit ALL 1983 Goldwings except Aspencade. They are Drag Specialties brand. I prefer the plain chrome cover than the ones with the funky stripe and stamped cover.

Got them real cheap, cause the guy advertised them as Calipher Covers, three times in his ad.

Alan, that's cuz you are only seeing new production covers. The nice ones they quit making a long time ago, but they are still floating around on the back shelves of some places.
