Okay, following everyones advice, I looked on my newly acquires 85 aspencade 1200 for the wires I need to solder together and remove the connector block. I looked at the rear of the battery, and all I found there was a power cable coming from the battery hot post to a 30 amp fuse block. The harness that connects to the 30 amp fuse has 4 wires with female spade connectors. The 30 amp fuse has 4 spade males in the top, only 3 wires are plugged in, the other is jujst hanging there.

HELP the newbie please

i believe the three yellow wires are on the left side (toward the front of the bike)of the battery

The three yellow wires we speak of come out of the rear of the engine case right about where your left foot and shifter is. They come out of the stator housing and work up towards a connector that is a very weak point in the current flow. You might find it okay, corroded or even black from the heat of the current flow.

That leads on up to the regulator that is under the false tank. The yellow wires and connector should be visible when you have the side cover off and the battery still in place.

This is actually infront of the battery.

On the 1100, one can see the three wires just to the left of the battery if viewing the battery head on from the left side of the motorcycle. They all come together in a molex connector.

As a precaution you should go one step further. Remove the false tank and you will see the three yellow stator wires coming from the wire harness through a multi-wire plug and into the voltage reg. This connector can also be a problem spot with melting and shorting. I would suggest that you cut the three yellow wires just before they enter the volt reg and run 3 new wires of equal gauge from the stator directly to the volt reg. Make good solder joints and use quality heat shrink. It is an easy job and by eliminating these two connectors you may prolong the life of your stator.......Gm

Thanks to everyone for you excellent advice...found the wires, someone has done the job for me...took a 150 mi shakedown cruise today...with 6 oz Seafoam in the gas tank and 6 oz in crankcase. Had a miss and balky acceleration, both cleared up after about 50 miles. Engine noise stopped, gears shift smoothly and quietly...it's miracle stuff.

The block fuse I was asking about is the starter block from the battery...still don't know about the 4th wire...it's solid blue...so for now, only 3 plugged into block, everything seems to work. I just hate it when that happens.

Had I know what a fellowship Winging was, I would have done it long ago...it's a great bunch of guys...

I don't know what the blue wire is, this is the original wiring for the starter solenoid.


But it might have been changed to look like this
