We're planning a road trip to our west coast this summer, but plan to come back through the states. We're thinking on heading east on #2 from Everett to Spokane Wa. then on to Yellowaston.Good road or should I go down to Seattle and get on I-90. I would imagine there should be lots places on#2 for fuel, but we've found over the years that to see the country, getoff the major highways

Route 2 is a great back road and it keeps you off the super slab. Suggestion #1: Don't forget to get off and do the Going to the Sun Highway at Glacier National Park - we have been there several times. Sometimes the GttS highway is closed due to construction and repairs from the winter damage. You will not regret the trip. Suggestion #2: When you can -get down on US 12 into Idaho and do the 77 miles of curves along the Clearwater Canyon! It is awesome and beautiful. These are my suggestions andride safe!

The I90 is quite boring except for the pass Better road is through Stephens pass

back roads are great in the States ( way better shape than our "trans Canada HYW" Although the new bridge through Kicking horse is quite spectacular

Hey send me your email I'll give you some good info Etc!!!

Lots of great roads to take across the Cascadeswithout resorting to super slabbing on I90.

How many days for traveling, once you leave Everett, to get back home?? I have lots of suggestions to keep you off the Interstates.

Yeah, stay off I-90! Every transplanted, frustratedCalifornian in the world is ripping up I-90! Bad for bikes......

From Everett, take Highway 2 and follow it over Stevens Pass, all the way to Spokane......

Or better yet! TakeHighway 5northto it's junction with Highway 20, the North Cascades Scenic Highway, take it across the mountains to KettleFalls, then take 395 to Spokane....

Or even better yet!from Kettle Falls take Highway 25 alongside Lake Roosevelt to to Miles, then swing west to Grand Coulee dam, from there drop back down on 2 and go to Spokane....

Had to edit this! Was going the wrong way!

If you haven't been to Glacier Nat. Park androde the Going to The Sun Road, I highly recommend it!
There are 2 great routes from Everett to there.

The Southerly route to West Glacier, via Hwy 2 andthe Coulee Corridor- http://tinyurl.com/dzrcdn
or the Northern route to West Glacier, via the Cascades Hwy - http://tinyurl.com/cs5w4p

Although the Going to The Sun Highway isn't closed due to construction, there will probably be shortdelays, but what beautiful scenery to gaze upon while waiting

From Glacier, I would circle back along the Southern perimeter of the park and head on down to Yellowstone and do a loop through the park and then hit Cody WY. http://tinyurl.com/cxuo9v

From There, head on up to Red Lodge MT, via the Chief Joseph and Beartooth Pass scenic highways and either back the same way, or an alternate route - http://tinyurl.com/dj5fmx
Then head east along 14 and a fairly short jaunt N on I 90 to US 212 and follow that over to Spearfish Canyon/Lead SD and spend a day or 2 exploring the Black Hills/Custer State Park/ Badlands Nat Parkregion of South Dakota - http://tinyurl.com/d886bs

Don't forget to stop in to Wall Drugs while in the Badlands/Rapid City area. Worth the visit!

Then head for home.- http://tinyurl.com/d9xvd8

Have fun - Dusty

I second Hwy 12 in Idaho. It is amazing. One of the most beautiful roads in the States IMHO.

Ahhh the sweet life! Kids married well, grandkids...well what can I say? Awesome!
