I have done 2 wheelies with my older '94 1500.

Once during a tight turn at a 90 degree intersection while following a gl1800 kamakazi rider by the name of Redwinger. He was gaining on me, and I had the 1500 wound up to 6,000 RPM staying with him in the twisties. I slowed for the corner, and just opened the throttle some more and while still rolling, put it in 1st and hammered it.

Whoops! raised the front wheel a foot at least while in a turn. Oops!

another time, I was being a hot rod Jockey with some crotch rocket guy here in town. He was showing off big time at all of the street lights. He was going to show off for me again because I had "raced him" through the last 2 intersections and he blew me away of course.

This time though, he wanted to make a real show of it, and lit up the rear tire. The 1500 lifted the front wheel a few inches and I was across the intersection before he knew what happened.

I just dropped off and let him go, but his smirk had gone away. Bet he never told his friends that a big Goldwing out foxed him

I have raised my front a number of times pulling away from a light, but never more than a few inches.

I think!

'RIDE TO BE SEEN'

Most common quote from a cager after killing a motorcyclist is?

"I never saw him".

I've had the front wheel of my 1100 in the air twice.

First time I was ticked, and jumped on it from a dead stop...complete accident.

The second time was to prove to my friends that I'd done it the first time.

An you were lucky enough to do it a second time? My luck it wouldn't have happened a second time.

Well now that we all know you're a Squid, don't take your bike to Marin, CA. They're gunning for squirrley people like you!!

From the Marin IJ:

"Police to focus on motorcycle violations
Staff Report

Twin Cities police will conduct a specialized motorcycle safety enforcement operation on Tuesday. Extra officers will patrol areas frequented by motorcyclists and where crashes occur. Officers will be cracking down on traffic violations made by motorcyclists and other drivers that can lead to motorcycle collisions, injuries and fatalities.
Funding for the operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration."
