I've got the battery cage(can't really call it a box ) in some rust remover solution,to get the small areas.
It cleaned up pretty well, and is pretty solid, with little pitting.
I'll let it soak for a day,or so,then prime,and paint it.
I'm going out, after my "coffee break",and mixing up some paint to do the test strips.
I want to try different shades and and accents,to see which looks the best.

Well, i did a couple of test shots.
The darker color is with 2 tsp of red,in 6 oz of yellow.
The lighter is straight yellow.
I plan on having candy red accents, and flake in the first of 3 clear coats.

Got the battery holder primed.
Soaked it for 24 hours,in 50/50 white vinegar/water solution. It even took off the old paint !
Buffed it (wet) with 0000 steel wool, dried it and sprayed it with 3 coats of primer.
After it sets ,overnight,I'll use the ultra-fine steel wool, and give it a couple of coats of black paint.

John, the first 1800 Goldwing I saw, many years ago when in Mazatlan Bike Week, was a Yellow one, shining on the sunlight, everybody watching around, I still recall the vivid color, and I guess it had other pigments into the paint because depending on the angle I noticed some red. So I am sure yours will look beautiful too.
My wife and me arrived last night home, left on April 8th, lot of miles but none on a bike, both bikes stay covered under the carport and with a battery mantainer attached, decided to check status, a disconnected power cable for the Wing, most probablythe gardener disconnected it when trimming the plants and mowing the grass, so I re connected it, hopefully light is green by now.
Will ride to Home Depot, shall get a replacement system for the WC tank, the floating device didn't work anymore, water keeps flowing no matter what...

Thanks for the comments,Motomano !
As for the WC float, have you tried adjusting the screw,on top of the valve pivot,or bending the float support rod down,a bit?

I painted the battery holder today. a couple of touch up coats, and it will be ready to install.

You're Welcome John,
I am recalling the first year of the 1800 model came in "Illusion Yellow"; as for the WC float, it is a system I installed several years ago with a double flush, one for #1, half flush and a full load for #2... So it has the floater attached to the valve, it slides thru and a long threaded adjuster sets the level, problem is even if I pull the lever to close the flow, it keeps, something is broke inside, it is all thermo sealed plastic parts, so no use in trying to fix it, just get a new one.

Not exactly a pair of Goldwings. But a pair of 73's.

That's my Yamaha 73 TX750. Anybody know what the green bike is.
