Whew glad that post turned out ok I think!
So I really like the shield height, I can see over the top and it takes the wind off from my chin down. A little wind in the faceshield but the helmet buffeting is nil and the sucking forward of my jacket is gone now. Much better, IMO.
Next, the handlebars. Although the stockers are ok and casual and all that I personally can't stand reaching up from my elbows to the grips, and the bend assaults my getting-up-there-in-years shoulder. Shopped and measured, imagined and measured, then finally settled on Emgo's 23-12544 bend handlebar with some 1" to 7/8" reducing shims at the upper tree.
I really like these bars. To be honest I may go a little lower and narrower in the future but these are working out nicely for comfort for me. More natural wrist bend and my hands are level with my elbows while on the grips. I had wondered whether reduced leverage may be an issue but heck no these bars weigh a couple pounds less than stock and I can feel it. Nimble as any 700+ lb bike can be.
However the height meant stock mirror interference with the levers at full lock, no matter what I tried, so I pulled the stock mirrors off. I installed the Aprilia Tuono mirrors from my Buell to the mounts on the Honda's brake and clutch reservoirs and my solution was revealed. The mirrors looked goofy but worked ok.
