That would only count if you watched him change your bike's tires.

Well this hasn't been exactly "today" but I've been sorting things for a few weeks and getting close to the finish line with my ergo's adjustment project (as if finishing with a motorcycle is even possible...).

Got a good deal on a new Slipstreamer S-162 and immediately took off 6" from the top. Couldn't bear to hack up the nearly excellent stocker.

Whew glad that post turned out ok I think!

So I really like the shield height, I can see over the top and it takes the wind off from my chin down. A little wind in the faceshield but the helmet buffeting is nil and the sucking forward of my jacket is gone now. Much better, IMO.

Next, the handlebars. Although the stockers are ok and casual and all that I personally can't stand reaching up from my elbows to the grips, and the bend assaults my getting-up-there-in-years shoulder. Shopped and measured, imagined and measured, then finally settled on Emgo's 23-12544 bend handlebar with some 1" to 7/8" reducing shims at the upper tree.

I really like these bars. To be honest I may go a little lower and narrower in the future but these are working out nicely for comfort for me. More natural wrist bend and my hands are level with my elbows while on the grips. I had wondered whether reduced leverage may be an issue but heck no these bars weigh a couple pounds less than stock and I can feel it. Nimble as any 700+ lb bike can be.

However the height meant stock mirror interference with the levers at full lock, no matter what I tried, so I pulled the stock mirrors off. I installed the Aprilia Tuono mirrors from my Buell to the mounts on the Honda's brake and clutch reservoirs and my solution was revealed. The mirrors looked goofy but worked ok.

The Honda reservoirs have mirror mounts spaced away from the handlebar differently from each other which bugged me on my 1976 750F and bugs me on this bike. That and the flatter angle bar ends tilt the mirror stalks inward, so I made a couple standoffs bent and trimmed to even out the mirrors I bought for this project. I know it sounds a little hack but they actually don't look so bad installed and the mirrors are very close to parallel with each other now. Took a ride to check everything out and was very pleased.

Light starting to show at the end of the tunnel, rerouted the throttle cables yesterday since they are too long now. After buying and discarding a pair of cheap GL1100 cables (they're apparently longer than 1200 and the hope was to loop them around the front of the steering head, would have worked but the threads are wrong up top... ) I put the stockers through the bail like stock but carried them over the frame rail and around the side and down to the pulley. Only mod I had to make was I cut off about 3/4" from a tab on the lower left fairing inner panel which let the cables nestle in there under the shelter. Glad this worked since shortened cables would have been expensive/ a hassle/ or both. Nothing I could do about the upper brake hose though, so ordered up a set of Spiegler stainless braided today and they're making me a 12" top hose. Fairing off next, joy.

Nothing. Looked at them thru the security camera in the garage out back. The other cameras showed the 6" of new snow surrounding the garage and house.

Yea darn snow... we are looking at 6-12 inches on Sunday. Driving back form Chicago might take a bit. If this keeps up I'll never get to road test the Wing till mid August!!!

Not the destination, but the ride
