This post is a loaded gun with the bullet in backwards. I do not want to play.

The 1800 is my bike. The very best motorcycle ever made. I was enthralled with my first test ride on this machine. It is a great bike. A crotch rocket with storage bags.............As for oil I use the slick kind, and I like round tires, but as of late I have found square ones work best on the rear. Pirelli Eufori 195/55/16 @ 32 PSI

Well, you're obviously out of warranty...so you are now free to do whatever you think you can get away with...IF YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY APPROVES...AND THE LAW ALLOWS...

I do all my own stunts...

Pulling a trailer with a motorcycle is one of those controversial subjects, that's why the concern expressed by Kit and why one of our friendly mod's have let you know he's watching. It could easily blow up quickly because there are a lot of strong opinions, especially on the "don't do it side". If the answers are kept specifically to your first question it might be OK.

Referring to that question only, I've been told of2 1800's that experienced transmission failure and it was blamed by the dealer on trailer towing. I've never heard of it on a 1500 but that only means that in my circle I've not run into anyone that has had it happen. It does not mean it hasn't happened and just because the dealer blamed it on trailer towing on these 2 bikes doesn't mean that was the cause. My opinion, any extra load on a transmission is going to cause it to wear faster. How much faster?

John

How much faster, indeed...

How would it compare to riding 2-up 100% of the time?
IMHO, not much.

My apologizes to one and all. I honestly had no idea that I was treading in a mine field with this post. I would like to ask the Moderator of this area to please delete this posting if possible. I have deleted my original post for the good of the forum. Again please excuse me...I should have thought before I posted.

Sometimes it's not easy to know when it's something controversial, so don't sweat it. The mods do a great job of keeping things in order here when it's needed. You had a legitimate question.
