About a week before 9/11/2011, Rob the Hillbilly PM'd me about a ride in Johnson City, Tn. commemorating the events of 9/11/2001. I didn't know until a day or so beforeas to whether or not I'd be able to go but, I was able to and I'm very glad I did as the only rides I'd been on beforewere either poker runs or just sight seeing. This turned out to be something else entirely and a ride I'll never forget as I was so impressed by all the people in the different towns showing support for what we were doing.... Here in the South, as I'm sure the custom is elsewhere, when you see a funeral proccesion drivers in the oncoming lanewill pull over and park as a sign of respect to the deceased...

The 1st leg of our ride was on INTERSTATE 26 East and I could not believe all the cars that pulled over in the breakdown lane ON THE WESTBOUND SIDE!!!!!! And that was just the start......

Anyway, here's a link to the article about the ride with videoand a few pic's I took. T'was a ride VERY worth doing.....

This is a pic of the retired police officer and his Police model Kawasaki 1000 that he's had a custom paint job on and is used for funeral escorts when requested. He was leading the hearse...

Our officialsheriff's escort... Yes CJ,, they were ST's!!!!!

The hearse used was a motorcycle/trailer hearse that was from a funeral home in North Carolina that is owned by the funeral director thereand is actuallyused in funerals!!

Here's the Honor Guard with the casket...

And not really a side note but here's a pic of Rob's bike! One of the finest looking SEi's that I've seen, made more special by the fact she's had a trike conversion that was VERY well done!!!

Another SEi owned by one of Rob's friends:

Lastly, there was a restored Indian there.. The pic's speak for themselves.....

BTW.... If you watch the video in the article link, when you see the Honor Guard loading the casket into the hearse, look to the left of the video... Ol' Roscoe's standing there doing some videoing... He's got the white cap on!!

It was great meeting you, your wife, and friends Rob and I hope I didn't break yer camera when you took the pic of me holding a can of Pledge.....

Don

Here is a link to the slide show from the pictures that the wife took. Sorry it took so long to post this but my camera has had a really bad attitude these last few days on downloading anything.
