Okay, if I was riding the bike once a week, or less, I'd do a full checkout before every ride, but I'd like to know how often us "everyday for everything" riders do a full bike checkout.

Full bike being: tire pressure-front and rear, shock pressure-front and rear, tread check-front and rear, brake fluid levels, oil level, lights, horns, fork flex......

I have to admit, I don't do these daily, but Thursdays have always been my vehicle checkout day and I'm still doing it weekly.

How about you?

I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine. John Galt (Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged)

Man, talk about callin' a brotha out!

Yeah, ok, I'll be the first to admit it (I'm not proud of it though)... The lights/turn signals are kind of self checking in my eyes. When I start the bike I either see the headlight come on or I don't. The signals either work normally or they don't. Brake lights? Ok, about once every two months .

Tire pressure is usually every two to three weeks , but I "spot check" every time I walk up to the bike . Shock pressures (because of the computer) are checked about every 3 or 4 days (my rears need to be rebuilt, they don't ride well below 62psi). General "quick" inpection of the brakes happens with the tire pressure checks, as does the oil level check (unless my saddle bags showan unusually high amount of leaking happening, then it's once a week).

Brake/clutch levels... ... I'll just leave it at that .

I know, I know, I'm a terriblehuman being, but seriously, it's a major pain in the *** to get all that crap out andgo through that whole routine EVERY day. I got places to go and things to do . That said, if I do a pressure/oil/brake check and ANYTHING isn't 100% normal, I'll go to the daily routine until I'm satisfied nothings wrong or I find/fix the problem (that way I'm motivated to fix it quick!).

I check tires and shock pressure every other week or when I'm going on a extented ride, especially two up, and check the oil weekly. I check lights, horn, and brake fluid everyday. I ride pretty much everyday. I'm always checking for fluid under her just incase. I check the tire tread every other week also and again when Marg gets a bath. If you ride everyday, you know your ride and usually can tell if something just isn't right.

Agreed. Ridin' the old girl every day, if something's even a little out of place, it gets noticed quick.

Brake fluid, oil etc ......monthly

Light I notice every time I start the bike before backing it out of the garage.

I'm retired right now, but when I was working and driving it everyday, 7 days a week?

Hit the tires with a hammer & listen to the bounce.
Look to see if any railroad spikes are sticking out of a tire,

start it up and go.

Now?
I look at the tires for problems, unplug the battery tender, start it up and go.

I try to stay in tune with how my bike is talking to me.
I have never been one to get down on my knees and spend a lot of time gawking at my bikes.

Lights - each ride
Horn - each ride
Brakes - each ride
Fluids - weekly
Tires (visual) - weekly
nut check - monthly*
pressures - monthly
Big trip - all the above

*I picked up a paint pen. Once torqued, I dab the nut joint with a spot of paint. So a nut check is just looking for the paint mark to have cracked/moved.

OH WAIT! You said HONESTLY. So I guess it's Get on and GO! for me too!

Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. Its having the right attitudes that's hard.

Mainly, I check and see if it's in the garage. (not stolen) If it is, I go for a ride.

As far as system checks.......... I do that every time I get to have sex.......once a year.

Don't want a deal with alot of flibiddy-flab or mumbo-jumbo...........
