Probably a random thing that won't happen again. I think the 95 was steamed and mad because I not been riding much.

I went out this morning at 3:30 am to take a short ride, really short since I had a flat but that is something else.

So bike is in Reverse and I turned on the key, headlights work fine.
I take bike out of reverse to start it and headlights go out!
Put in reverse and they come on!
Out of Reverse they go out!
I did that 3 or 4 times!
So I am sitting there in neutral with everything seeming to work but no headlights!
I flipped the switch high/low a few times does not work on either.

Curious I started the bike to see if it would run. Started fine as always and a second after starting the lights came on. I had High and lows and no problems.

I started heading for the HY but found I had a flat on front. Normally I check tires, but not this time.

Those gremlins been busy last couple days!
Yes I have a bell to put on, but not put it on yet, was going to after I change tires and clean things. Been sick and not done anything yet.

So I think the bike was a bit steamed perhaps and caused the strange light issue?
The other day it started to storm and I put the cover on the 1500, but it already had a bit of wet on it though not much. Then she sat in hot sun covered most the day, I took off the cover and let her sit in hot sun to dry out.
Tonight was first time she been started though.

I hate these problems that may or may not ever occur again!
Lights work now, so what would I look for or how would I know I fixed it?

Your start button is dirty.

My buddy had this happen. his reverse switch was bad. it actually blows a fuse and you can replace the fuse and get everything back working......until you use reverse again. He had his fixed at the dealer and it was only like 120 bucks including the part. He has a 1995 wing.

Ride comfortably or Stay Home

Well sometimes these self fix things are a pain in the rear but nice.

Just checked out the 1500, everything working perfect as it should.

Headlights always work, reverse works, starter works.
Starter button seems fine, works every time with a gentle press, not feeling gummy or sticky or anythng and not too long ago was sprayed out with cleaner.

For now I guess I'll figure it was gremlins and they just moved on LOL
Probably moisture in something and dried now.

Flat tire is another strange thing, just rolled the 1500 around and really soaked tire, beads, valve stem, with soapy water and no leaks!
Aired up to 50PSI to make the leak really hiss but still can't find any! Seems to be holding the air at 50 when checked also. And I wobbled around the valve stem, no bubbles.

How could it go flat in 2-3 days but hold 50psi with no bubbles?

Well thunder and looks like rain today, getting darker out.
I'll see when she gets wet again if the headlight issue comes back or not I guess.

Whatever you think, OK. I get ignored more often then a beggar on a New York street corner anyway.

I listen, not ignoring.

Just meant everything is working correct again now and can't actually tell anything wrong as the button is working well.
I'll clean it though.

Chromo, listen to Dave, he is right...when u push the start button whether its to start the bike or use reverse, it pulls all the voltage to do that and kills the lights....do yourself a favor and spray out your starter switch...that is the issue...

I'll clean the switch. Finally got rain here so not done anything since I have to work outside right now.

But I wasn't pressing the button, just moving the reverse lever to reverse and back out again.

Still could have been button I guess since after I did use the starter to start it I got the headlights when out of reverse after it ran a few seconds.
