Thanks for the info John. I checked the ones I bought for Edie and I last year at the International Motorcycle Show in Seattle. Unfortunately our labels do not show the PO or the date like theirs. I contacted them and found out that if your Jacket has the "Made in USA" Tag up at the neck with the American Flag you are not involved in the recall. Only the ones that were made overseas and only a subset of those.

Mine isn't involved in the recall either, but I didn't expect it would be since it is a bit older than the one's being recalled.

I have to call those guys tomorrow. I bought mine 3 years ago at the International Show in Seattle and my tag says "Made in China." When I bought the coat and gloves from them, I thought I was buying the "old" style. The tag says "Made in 07."

I had a problem last fall with my liner/electrical unit the first time I used them. Something was apparently wrong with the liner wiring and it caused a short in the electrical heating control causing it to burn up. I contacted Gerbing and they had me send my liner and control in for inspection, then they called and wanted my wife's liner and control. All were replaced without an explanation and the new liners have a different PO#.


Speaking of PO, that really stands for my being pizzed o ff, we were in N. Ontario when the weather turned cold and my liner didn't work the first time I tried using it. The rep at Gerbing and I had a rather heated discussion once I thawed out. Gerbing did replace the units and all is working fine now.

I talked with the Gerbing reps at the Seattle International Motorcycle Show last year when I bought mine. They indicated there were 2 reasons they brought the manufacturing back from China. 1: Better quality control with the units being made in their local manufacturing facility and 2: Excess capacity in the facility meant they could use the work making the stuff here to fill that capacity.

So far I have been very satisfied with my liners. I may have to switch to the dash mounted controls as I don't like having to reach into my jacket to adjust the controls I have. The wife has not had a chance to use hers yet but that will be coming this fall.

I made a bracket that attaches to my clutch mounting bolts so I can clip the controller on the left handlebar. It's handy, easy to see and adjust and can easily be moved from the GW to the SW. I brought out the power connector along side the microphone cable. On the scooter I ran the power cable along the handlebar and brought it out from under the handle bar cover just underneath the clutch perch. I'll re-route the power cable to the controller along the handle bar on my GW later on.
With the controller clipped on the handle bar I can easily remove it when the weather's warm as well as use it on both bikes. An extended cord on the controller reaches my jacket with sufficient slack to allow dismounting without disconnecting.
