VIN Code Assistance "GL 1E 4056781"

This is the VIN on the engine that came with my 1978 Basket Case. It does not match the VIN of the frame. Before I start buying gaskets and such, can anyone help with the coding on this VIN to let me know what size/year of engine this is?

The serial number of the engine NEVER matches the frame VIN.

But GL1E-4xxxxxx does match for 1978 year model.
