GoldWingFacts Index bookmarks
Index Date: 2019/06/30
The Index is something I do on a daily basis as I see
a post or a thread that needs to be included.
The Index is comprised mostly from GoldwingFacts and GoldwingDocs
a sob story, some of the links are now broken. This happens for a lot of reasons, all of them out of my control as website owners die, quit paying their bills, or just loose interest with changes in their life.
Most of them though, are still working. I edit them as I find the broken ones.
My bookmarking system is based on the hierarchical system like the military uses.
Most of the bookmarks have been alphabetized.
here is an example of how they appear if you select the GL1000
Import instructions in this post are for Internet Explorer.

To do this, download this HTML file:
All browsers including Firefox use the same HTML file to IMPORT bookmarks.
You MUST be patient when importing this file into your browser. It takes MINUTES!!! for my computer it takes six (6) minutes for it to fully import into the browsers. There are more than 5,000 entries in this Forum Index and that is a lot of overhead to try and import all at once.
Please be patient, start the import and go do something else. If you stop the process, you will have a broken index.... do not close the browser for at least 15 minutes or more.... you cannot see what is happening unless you are using a Task Manager to observe the browser's activities.
If you appreciate the bookmark Index, I would appreciate a post in this
thread so others will know how it works for you. Thanks, John
First download the HTML file from the link below.
Please! Please! report to me if this link expires.
I set it to be non-expiring, but sometimes it expires anyway.
INTERNET EXPLORER INSTRUCTIONS
Click on File, select Import and Export
A menu will pop up like below…
Now select Import from a file
On the next menu, select Favorites Only
Now find the Index file and click on it
Now you need to Select the Destination Folder.
I suggest that you make it at the TOP LEVEL so that the
Favorites bar will show Motorcycle as a subset of the main Favorites menu.
Now click on Import and wait wait wait until the import finishes.
This could be a lot of minutes depending on how fast your computer is.
Even with a 2.5 gHz laptop, it took a whole lot longer than I thought it would, 6 minutes!!!
One thing that you can do to preview the index.
Click on the index.html file with your Windows File folder.
It will open in your default browser as a Flat File.
It is very usable that way too, but excruciatingly hard to find what you want.
Hope it all goes well for you,
If you need help, let me know.
Importing Bookmarks into Chrome
Importing Bookmarks into Chrome
I apologize for the dim camera shots.
My camera's Auto Brightness did that.
First you need to mouse up to the top right
corner and click on the Settings Icon,
now just follow the pictures.
Download the index file.
Open the bookmarks from the top right corner
Settings Icon and you will see this:
Or, if you will move the Motorcycles Tab over to
the left side of the Bookmarks Bar as I have and
just click on that, you will see this:
clicking on the bookmark TAB to open the bookmarks
is the ideal way to do it because the bookmarks will
scroll up/dn if you have a Wheel Mouse...
Like using a laptop's scroll feature on the mouse tab.
Download the index file.
Import Bookmarks into Firefox
Download the index file.
Importing the Bookmarks into Firefox is even easier than the other browsers.
Click on Bookmarks, Show All Files.
Make sure to highlight the correct folder: All Bookmarks as shown below.
Click on Import and Backup
then Click on Import Bookmarks from HTML
then find the HTML file you downloaded from HighTail
Once you click OK, go get a cup of coffee and wait until you see the bookmarks menu reflect the newly loaded bookmarks.
Do NOT close any windows or exit Firefox. It is going to take a long time.
Wait until you see the Motorcycle index folder appear in the
Main Bookmarks list.
I am gunna read thru and get on the program. Thanks for the link and info
I'm a little confused but that doesn't take much.
So after I follow the first link you posted and click download what will I be downloading? a program or files?
I think you are saying you are giving out a copy of the index you've made and it is a large file. Could you clarify this for me?
By the way I use opera for my web browser.
Yes, what you will be downloading is a single HTML file.
It is the same file for all browsers.
Once it is downloaded to your PC, it must be IMPORTED to the browser.
Depending on which browser you have, the steps are slightly different to get that job done.
It is not hard, but does involve a little attention to detail.
I will be more than happy to "login into" anyone's computer that wishes to allow me to do so and show you how it is done.
just give me a call at Nine One Eight .... 613 .... 9....5....3.......0...... and we can hash it out.
Forum Index release 30 June 2019
I have just finished uploading the latest Forum Index.
There are loads of new bookmarks that never existed before.
Rusty Gas Tanks:
Car to Bike Communications
Then there are:
There are over 5,000 bookmarks in this file.
Fortunately, it is all Alphabetized by Topic.
If it is only for a certain model of bike, then it will be found under the Main Topic of bike model. ie, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1500, 1800. The "GL" was left off of each of those to force the browsers to sort the bike models to the top of the list.If a topic is generic to all bikes, then it will be listed in a sub-topic in the main bookmarks list that first opens After you click on Motorcycle.
I hope you all enjoy these, as much as I have enjoyed putting them together.

all the other browsers will use the same HTML file, but you figure it out on your own. I don't have Opera, or Dolphin, or any of the others loaded.
John, your bookmarks are awesome. I just put them on my laptop in firefox. They work much better than the search function on the site.
I just downloaded your index on IE 9. It is great and has great info, however it does not show me the
It starts with trailers and ends with Yikebikes. Did I miss something?? :?
I really like the idea of info for each model in a seperate index.
Thanks for doing this.
and clicked on the same link you have to and downloaded a new copy of it
and placed it in a new Public Album
I have a spare browser for test purposes and I deleted all
bookmarks from it to start with.
Then I imported the 'new download' file I got,
same as yours "should have been".
This is how it looks for me.
First with all of the model index folders closed:
And now if the 1000 folder is opened and I highlight the folder "Starter"
it will show this.
You will have to scan sideways to see it all because my monitor is 24" wide.
My question is, did you make sure that you had the proper "Destination Folder"
highlighted before you imported the file? Like this:
If you did, and you still don't see the folders, I suggest you delete the "Motorcycle"
folder to remove all of the imported bookmarks.
Then either try import again, or download a fresh copy and import that.
If you still can't get it right, I will be happy to work with you on the phone.
I will PM that number to you.
