Have you thought of tinting your sunglasses?
In the summer/fall solstice I'll put a narrow strip of black electrical tape on the inside top, acts like a sun visor.
Just move your head up/down to ward off the direct sun.

If you have that sticky Sun-Shade stuff you can double/triple/quadruple layer it on your sunglasses.
