2008 or 2012?

I have a friend trying to decide between an '08 and '12 wing. He's looking for opinions on what others think are the pros and cons of each year. Any help would be appreciated.

I would find a 2014 because of the possible tranny issues on the earlier models. I believe 2014 is when Honda finally changed the gears.

I have an 02 at 103k miles and there isn't any thing wrong with the tranny.
Go with the one that pleases you best, in your mind and heart and wallet.

I had an 08 and loved it. Some do not like the looks of the 2012 , If both bikes are close to the same with miles and condition then it's up him which one he likes the best. But when he goes to sell it the 12 is 4 years newer and will bring a few dollars more.

2008 is pretty good from what I understand a lot of changes happened up to that point for the better. I like the looks of the 2012 saddlebags and I like white goldwings. A bit disappointed that the 2016 didn't bring any changes but thats the way it goes.

If it were me, I would lean towards the 12. Saddlebags are a little larger, speedometer error was taken care of, better triple tree for fork stability and I believe a stronger spring on rear shock, navi can be updated much easier as it uses SD cards instead of CF cards which are getting harder to find, has the ability to get xm weather. Im sure there are a few more improvements but those are some that come to mind. If not much of a price difference and is doable, my vote goes to a 2012.

I went with a Gen II and don't regret it for a second. I will ride this bike until the day I die.

I agree, the 2103(pretty much the same as a 12)will be my last goldwing. I plan on riding it to the 300k mark. By that time(14 years or less)I'll be done with riding unless my wife goes with me.

Thing that I and a lot of others do not like about the gen 11 is that the trunk lights and tail lights on the saddle bags do not match. Euro on the saddle bags and old style on the trunk. My 02 had old style in both places and my 08 had euro in both places,

Now this guy changed his to the euro style and it looks a lot better

personally, I would not buy one with the mixed style rear light setup.
I would make the dealer put in the Euro style or no deal.
