You pay sales tax correct?

I paid Florida sales tax when I bought my "13" wing from Southern Honda in TN. I called many Florida dealers and told them point blank that it is worth it to me to go out of state for 5k in savings. They said they wouldn't budge on the price(theirs was a new "12" and the price was more than my "13"). My dad and I drove up with a trailer(he didn't want to drive back by himself) and were back at home 24 hrs later. My only complaint, is the bike was nearly empty on fuel(fuel light on) which ticked me off even considering the price I paid. If I get another one, I would buy from them again.

Yes, if you register it in Arkansas, he lives in Florida.

With no God over the state, the state then becomes not the defender of liberty but the definer of liberty.

Problems at DMV if you buy out of State.

I'm not sure but in California you might have a problem with DMV because of air quality. I have heard stories that you have to register the bike in the other state and then you can bring it into Calif. after 2 months. I might be wrong but I have heard stories.

Thanks for the advice so far. I try to shop around via phone but most are very reluctant to talk hard figures (at least in Florida). I was able to speak with somebody in another part of the state today. His final offer was ok, but not good enough for me to travel the distance to him so I told him thank you but I'm going to negotiate a little more with dealers closer to me. He actually got mad, even though I told him at the beginning of the conversation that I was dealing locally and checking with him to see if they could do better. I guess I'm not supposed to shop around.

I will be moving to Arkansas when I retire so it will be much easier then I guess. Unfortunately that is 9 years away!

It's unprofessional to get mad at a customer. He did you a favor by showing his true behavior. How do you think he's going to act if you have a problem.

Write his dealership off your shopping list.

I do not know about the length of time. But I know from past experience at a dealership in Oregon. We purchased a couple of bikes from people who had purchased bikes in states other than Calif. and could not register them in Calif. because they had less than 5000 miles on them.

I am not far from the Tampa dealers. They are as worthless as you describe. You may try Honda of Winter Haven. Have been to several dealers here and I have pretty happy with them. Not sure on new Wing purchase, but worth the phone call.

Thank you. That's my next call, depending on how local negotiations go tomorrow.
