Win10 users - I need some help

I only have Win7 and Linux Mint 17.3 on my PCs....

I am getting a lot of questions thrown at me on the telephone from users who have acquired a Win10 computer and no longer can find the proper Login buttons.

all they see is "Username" and "Remember Me" button to use or check.

I have worked now with at least a half dozen folks who swear that there is NO PASSWORD BLOCK for them to enter their name and password on the HOME PAGE.

I have asked them repeatedly to click on Home, and yet all they see is Username & Remember.me

today, for the 1st time, Jim; SeaBee47 talked and worked with me on the phone so that we could get his password fixed... he tells me that if he enters his username and clicks on LOGIN that the forum says he has entered a wrong username/password, and to try again.

However, at this point, HE CAN SEE BOTH BLOCKS to enter his Username and Password and the box for Remember Me.....

would one or more of you with Windows 10 and the stock browser, whatever name it is called??? please LOG OUT of the forum, then click on HOME and tell me what you see??

I would really appreciate one of you calling me, then with us working together, have you install TeamViewer on your PC.... then let me log into your PC on a One Time Only basis and let me browser around your PC to see what i the world is so different between Win7 and Win10 ????

~ John

Is he using the Internet Explorer 11 or Edge Browser? I remember when W10 came out it came with 2 browsers and many people have been having problems with Edge and went back to IE11.

True. I use chrome and see all boxes as normal because edge does not show a password box. I hate edge and haven't bothered to see if it has a compatibility mode like ie11. Tomorrow at work I'll dig into this and report back. I have 7 @home

he barely knew how to turn on the computer, so it has to be the stock browser which IIRC is called 'Edge'.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you on this but I've had a busy day at work chasing multiple IT issues. How virtual machines can turn themselves off is beyond me... Anyway, I'm in Chrome right now typing this. Just prior to this, I opened edge and successfully logged into the forum. There is indeed a password box filled with 6 stars of I don't know what as I never use that browser. I filled in my usual password in the box no problem. Not sure why there is a password box now but there is.

Hey guys,

To those of you who are running into the issue discussed in the OP, can you please provide an image of the missing Password box?
Also what version of Edge are you using @wilmo ?
I attempted this on several browsers including Edge and IE11 on a Windows 10 desktop without being able to replicate it.

Richard.

The version I have is Microsoft Edge 38.14393.0.0 and also says Microsoft EdgeHTML 14.14393. I've attached what I see when the site pulls up, FYI.

unfortunately, you are seeing what is supposed to be there.

what we need is a screen shot from someone who cannot see the password box.

I wish that I had asked for the user I talked with on the phone to allow me to use TeamViewer to log into his PC.... but, he was just barely able to navigate around the PC in the first place. asking him to install a remote control program might not have been successful.
