That is correct which leads me to disbelieve most of what they say.

What kind of modification? If anything, I could only see it requiring a slight trim to some of the flat stock pieces which could easily be done with a hacksaw. I am not sure you are going to find a new hitch for a bike that is 32 years old... just not a real demand for a manufacturer to make them still, so modifications may be your only option unless you find a used hitch off of an 85 Aspencade.

Let me see if I understand you, Your telling me since they say it fits an 84 and there was no such thing that I should not listen to them saying it needs modification?
Here is another site that says the same thing.

I also stated in my first post I was looking for a used one, I dont remember ever saying I wanted a new one, just fairly priced. I think that is a bit on the expensive side after shipping. I bought a hitch for a 2001 Jaguar cheaper than that and its a Jag

Here is another site that says the same thing.
http://everythingwing.com/gl1100-gl1200-trailer-hitch/
From the installation instructions that can be downloaded from the everythingwing link above:

"Note: For some 1984 and 85 ASP model, use the mounting bracket bar with only two holes. Measure 1
from each end and mark to drill a 8 MM hole. Drill hole at each end then cut bracket behind the holes to make a
shorter bracket. "

Doesn't seem like it would be that big a deal and it may not even be necessary.

Yes I see that now, but for that price they should make a special bracket for the Aspencade. When I originally posted I was reading that it required cutting and welding, must not have been this model, I thought it might be the same. Now I know

My advice is; forget about the hitch. Why add all that weight to the bike?

And Honda clearly says don't tow a trailer with the bike.

Why ain't we ridin'?

I took one off my '85 Interstate. PM your email, name and address to me. You can have it for the cost of shipping. I don't want to send it to the land fill.

So there you go.

I couldn't fix my brakes so I made the horn louder
Motor started to knock. Turned up the radio.
