Pledge (or equivalent) is cheaper and works just as well

I sure wouldn`t. That and Windex will remove the clear coating on the plastic. My choice has been hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle mixed 50/50 with distilled water. Someone used something they shouldn`t have on the windshield of my current Gold Wing before I got it, and messed up the clear coat.

my new Madstad windshield is so clear, you can just barely tell you are looking thru it.
I just use Lemon Pledge and a fibre cloth

I've read in quite a few places not to use RainX or similar products on the windshield. I've seen Lemon Pledge recommended a lot of places, and the Pledge Multi-Surface, which is what I've used and it does a great job. Let it soak in and it really cleans off the bug juice.

I do the same, have not tried the MultiSurface product, will get that next time.

I have sprayed on the regular stuff real heavy to get rid of bugs, makes a mess though, and just about ruins a micro fibre towel

I also use hydrogen peroxide to get the bugs off.....My interest in the RainX for plastic is does it help with visibility when riding in the rain...

If you Google it, you'll find this comes up almost as often as oil and tire threads.

In seeming order of recommendation:
1. Lemon Pledge or MultiSurface
2. RainCoat
3. RainZip
4. Plexus
5. Rain-X for Plastic formula

Soooo,... what kind of oil are you using?!

I use the wax as I use on the bike> when waxing the bike I also cover the windshield. I use water in a small spray bottle in between waxing
