Air Shock's 1990 GL1500

I have a 1990 GL 1500 I was told that my bike only has one Air Ride shock on the right rear, can anyone tell me
if this is true?. And if so why I have not check to see if it has one on the left side. Thanks MCFF

Well, my 1995se had the oem shocks which was 1 air ride, 1 normal shock. that was the oem configuration. I have changed to Progressive 416 dual air shocks for a (my opinion only) bettter ride with 2 up and just me. they work well with my Progressive front fork springs, no more dive on braking.

The seat is simple to remove to check for your self. 4 allen bolts and viola. while you are there may as well check and clean any electrical connections there (just a thought)

One air shock on the right with oil inside, but not a full damper. On the left is a spring shock with a full damper.
My guess is that is a reliability compromise. Even if you blow an air line you will still have the spring side to get you home.
I used to have a CB750 with dual airshocks, and no springs. More than once I found them empty in the morning and had to limp to a gas station to fill them to go to work. Hardtail Honda is no fun.

You can change the oil in your airshock and the protective rubber boot has probably gone bad and can be replaced.

That is true for the OEM rear suspension.
