Yes,

just a thin film of Moly Lube will do the job quite nicely,

you can get Moly Lube in Home Depot and Lowes, as well as almost any auto supply store.

make sure it is one of the high percentage types, 70% or so is good

while out on a buying trip, pick up one of those little mechanic's brushes... the little metal tube with the strong bristles on it.... dip that in the Moly and spread a thin coat onto everything....

a gob is way too much, and useless for what we need.

this is NOT like packing the wheel bearings on a trailer.
