There has been an increase lately in the amount of vendors registerig and advertising their commercial products here. Mostof them never post anywhere else in the forum and go straight for the killherein the for sale form.It seems that they see an advert-free forum and think it's a golden opportunity to make money.
I know the wingnut and wexman keep a eye on this and generally get to them quickly, but I was wondering how the rest of the members feel.

What makes this forum the best is what it is, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Any vendor who has something of interest to this board can contact me with information they think will influence me enough to include it in my Motorcycle Bookmarks page that you can hit from the link in my sig.
If not, it either isn't worth seeing or they aren't that interested in us.

Let's keep it ad free here.

We've been down this road before.

Vendors quickly clutter up the forum with spam all over the place. it becomes blatant within a matter of a few posts, and when the subject comes up to remind them of the forum's nature, heated arguments start.

I like what ain't broke. No Vendors Direct Advertisements Allowed:

We have several vendors who are members of the forum and they provide a very useful information and parts source. We talk about them enough that the good ones get plenty of business from us.

I say keep them away... If we are looking for something there are plenty of members here that have possibly bought from them allready and can recomend the good places.. or stay away from places.. ie: sabercycle

I definately would not want to see vendor ads allowed. When someone on the forum uses a product they really like (or dislike), they often share their opinion here, and we don't need Billy Mays telling us that Emily in Wisconsin uses Purple Lightning Cleaner or whatever...

I am also not a big fan of people posting just to tell us they have parts they are selling on Ebay. I mean, sure, ask what you want for the parts, and if nobody wants it, tell us it's gone to Ebay...

By coincidence, Billy was just drilling us on the Simonize Fixit ad on TV.
I'd probably buy it if he weren't pushing it.

eBay? Either give us a chance first or don't bother telling us. It's more of an insult otherwise.

Agree with you Tim all the way.

Looks like this should be a busy thread, I'll PM wexman and ask him to sticky it for a while.

It doesn't need a sticky. If it has merit, it will stay at the top anyway.

Plus we already know what the answer is no matter the consensus on this particular subject due to the board philosophy.
