Anyone out there have any ideas on where I can get replacement locks for my trunk and saddlebags. Are there some other alternatives that I can use to both keep the lids on and provide security.

I thought about using chains and padlocks but concluded that they look to ghetto. Even if they were gold

Thanks

Lost keys or justno faithwith original latching system ? Replace or modify?

Keno
There are some small chrome security latchs in the hardware stores, that can be riveted on. Keyedsmall tumbler lock like on security cabnets. Don't know if you could getsix or so keyed alike easily.

e-bay has sets on there sometimes, kinda pricey, or if you can find some off cracked bags and have a lock smith that is worth his salt he can key the locks to your ignition key. I am working on upgrading trunk and saddle bags on my bike, took all the locks off and took them to a local shop. Two days later he had them ready and all keyed to my original key. Charged me 8 bucks each, but well worth it to me!

As Nightwizzard says the latches are available on ebay. You can remove the lock cores from your original latches and put them in the new latches so your keys will work.

i did a search for motorcycle savage yards in ohio and came up with a few around here. the problem was that they wanted as much for used stuff as the new ones cost. you could look around there and if you can't find junk yards there. i could give you some names from up here. good luck

What's wrong with the locks on your bike? If they are too loose replacing the rubber in the bag lids will snug them up. If your locks aren't working any decent locksmith should be able to replace the lock cores. Here's a couple places that might be able to help if you need to replace them:

I have a set of latches off of an extra set of bags and the trunk I would be willing to part with. I do not have the key so you would have to rekey them. If you are interested private message me and we can get together on details.

BTW guy, that's a bad handle, you may not have much money but you aren't poor. How could you be, riding a Goldwing? There's richness in that alone.
