I used to drive an 18 wheeler for a trucking company that had 120 tractors spread over terminals in Billings,MT., Casper Sheridan, Cheyenne and Newcastle, Wyo., Rapid City & Sioux Falls, S.D. and Bismarck, ND. System-wide, we hit one or two deer every night. The owners put deer warning whistles on every tractor and we went 3 months before another deer was hit. After that, deer were hit only rarely. That proved to me they work.

I installed a pair on my semi-tractor and put over a million miles on it thru most every state in the union, mostly in the Great Lakes states and Rocky Mountains. Never hit a deer, saw hundreds that froze on the shoulder or ran back into the woods as I approached. None ever ran in front of me. More proof to me.

I do have more evidence, but Iíll just saw I have deer whistles on my car, truck and motorcycles. Iíve never hit a deer in a vehicle that had the whistles on it. For less than $10, I feel theyíre worth it. Even if they only reduce the chance of hitting a deer by 25%, itís worth it to me.

Well, they do work. Iím not saying they stop every deer, but even if they reduce your chances of hitting a deer by 25%, itís well worth the $5-10 cost to the whistles.

Iíve seen them work hundreds of times at night, in full daylight, in snow, rain, forests, farm fields, prairies, mountains and swamps. You mat say whatever you wish, but I know they work. Iíve personally had them on all my vehicles, including motorcycles, for over 34 years, mostly in heavily infested deer country. Never hit a deer in over 1.2 million miles. I think I have freeness of speech regarding this topic.

I realize that somewhere, a guy with deer whistles on his vehicle hit a deer. But that sure doesnít mean they donít work at all, ever. Of course, even with whistles on your vehicle, you shouldnít go hurdling thru the deep dark, deer-infested woods at night at 75 mph. One still needs to exercise good sense.
