More important for me than knowing what gear I am in is having an accurate speedometer. I'm seriously considering the Speedohealer from Healtech.

In newer bikes with an electronic dash there is no reason why Honda could not program in a Gear Position Indicator. The ECU knows what gear you are in, just read the data from there and display it.
