I'd like to know if the engineer who designed the placement of the Air Filter even rides or works on a wing. Everything I've had to do on my GL1800 has been fine but I've really been cussing the rocket scientist who put the Air Filter under four layers of stuff! There's gota be a better way...seems thata snorkel system could have been designed where you could have outside access to the Air Filter!

Ok, That's my gripe.

I would have to agree, that is one reason I haven't really considered buying an 1800 yet, it is bad enough to change the air filter on the 1500, when I seen what was involved with changing one on an 1800, I've decided to spend 15 minutes on the 1500 instead of 2 hours on the 1800. That's not counting the fact that the 1500 has more storage space, wider fairing, and the only advantage I see that an 1800 has over my 1500 is a little better handling, and a little more power, and it is easier to change the rear tire. Other than that, Honda hasn't really convinced me that I need an 1800.

The filter isn't as bad as you might think to replace. There is a video and picture tutorial showing you how to do it, on the site here;

Not as bad?? :P

That is about as asinine an arrangement as I can ever imagine. No wonder most owners won't mess with it.

I think I will just stay with my 1500. Bigger saddle bags, etc......

I would agree with that. I recently installed a K&N Filter in my 06 after watching the video on this site and would like to see better placement of the air filter for easier access.
